Course Description: This course will introduce how to improve safety by developing and implementing an action plan. We will discuss local road safety plans, a FHWA proven safety countermeasure local agencies can use to identify at-risk locations on their roadways and deploy cost-effective safety solutions. Participants learn how to implement safety improvements targeted at areas that have a history of crashes or exhibit conditions associated with high-crash areas. Participants will learn the steps to develop and implement a Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) for their community.

- Gain understanding of the state Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP)
- Learn about developing local road safety plans (LRSP) for their agencies
- Learn about the implementation, evaluation, and updates for LRSP
- Introduction to FHWA and NHTSA safety countermeasures
